Precautions for the use of controlled-release fertilizers, slow-release fertilizers, and compound fertilizers
Release time:2026-01-22 Views:27 Sources:Tai an Zhonglan Xuye Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd

1. Slow release fertilizer can be used as a base fertilizer in combination with other quick acting fertilizers, but attention should be paid to the dosage. As a single nitrogen fertilizer, the dosage of slow-release fertilizer should not be too much, otherwise it is easy to cause the phenomenon of excessive growth.

2. When using controlled-release fertilizers, slow-release fertilizers, and compound fertilizers as base fertilizers, considering the slow decomposition of these three fertilizers, if they are applied for sowing or propagation through cuttings, quick acting nitrogen fertilizers should be supplemented in a timely manner during topdressing according to the fertilizer requirements of different plants to meet the growth needs of potted flowers.

3. When using compound fertilizer for topdressing, do not apply it on the surface soil. Firstly, it is not conducive to root absorption, and secondly, it cannot dissolve quickly, causing the root system to be unable to deeply fix, resulting in fertilizer loss and yellowing of leaves. We usually apply deep soil cover when using it.

4. Controlled release fertilizer can be applied to the topsoil of potted flowers with shallow root roots, simply by shallow plowing the soil. In addition, after using controlled-release fertilizers as base fertilizers during sowing and propagation of potted flowers, there is no need to fertilize them again during the subsequent growth period. If used as topdressing, it needs to be determined according to the plants growth potential. Using controlled-release fertilizers when the growth potential is poor can have a good improvement effect.

Summary: Whether it is controlled-release fertilizer, slow-release fertilizer, or compound fertilizer, although they all supplement the three elements of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, there are still significant differences in their usage and selection. We need to determine based on various factors such as the growth habits of potted flowers and the external breeding environment, and cannot apply fertilizers indiscriminately. For example, when sowing or cutting, we can use controlled-release fertilizers and slow-release fertilizers as base fertilizers; When using these three fertilizers, it is important to maintain a certain distance from the root system. In addition, when using these three fertilizers, the lack of a single nutrient should be considered, and quick acting nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers should be supplemented in a timely manner to promote the normal growth of flower plants.
